Newsletter ME01 – Aesthetic Medicine – Why do it?

Medicina Estética

As we get older all of us begin to see the visible signs of the aging process and nowhere is this more obvious than in our skin and ultimately our face – the part of our body we see first thing in the morning and last thing at night! For the majority of us this not only has physiological but also psychological impact and can cause loss of confidence and worry about what will happen in the future as we age! Generally we spend a lot of time and effort (as well as money!) in caring for our skin – trying to hold back the effects of time.

This series of monthly articles has two purposes, to:

• Give you an insight into the physiological processes that affect the skin throughout our lifetime, the various mechanisms behind the “aging process”
• Explain the different types of treatments that are available at Medilagos, under the direction of our aesthetic specialist, Dr Joanna Karamon, what their aim is and how they work.

No-one can turn back time – yet! – and we do not promise our clients they will look 20 years younger but with these minimally invasive treatments we can give back the skin a firmness and smoothness, improving appearance and slowing down the visible signs of ageing. A better physical appearance often enhances mood and increases self-confidence.

Everyone is different, as are our expectations, and the expression “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is very relevant in this type of medicine with clients seeking out their own individual ideal of how they wish to appear physically and it is our aim to help them attain this.
